Security System Products and Solutions by Advanced Service Solutions

"Security Systems" -- A security alarm is a system designed to detect intrusion or unauthorized entry into a building or area. Security alarms are used in residential, commercial, industrial, and military properties for protection against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as personal protection against intruders.  Some alarm systems serve a single purpose of burglary protection; combination systems provide both fire and intrusion protection. Intrusion alarm systems may also be combined with closed-circuit television surveillance systems to automatically record the activities of intruders, and may interface to access control systems for electrically locked doors. Systems range from small, self-contained noisemakers, to complicated, multi-area systems with computer monitoring and control..

We consult on and provide Security Systems and solutions because they are an important part of business.  Being able to properly secure your possessions, your inventory, your business and whatever else may need protection is vital to your piece of mind and to your ability to keep your business operational and profitable.  Security, by definition, is a series of deterents.  Based on the number of deterents and the functionality the Security System provides, it increases in effectiveness and usability.  The initial deterent usually applied is the sticker on the Window that says "Protected By" or something similar.  Here is the first surprise, that does help and makes amateurs hesitate.  However, a seasoned professional will not hesitate.  They will perform a complete due dilegence (case your propery) to determine what does and does not exist in alarm technology and security deterents and then proceed according to what they have observed.

We should start with that all Security Deterents are not necessarily electronic by nature.  Surrounding your property with a high fence, having the area well lighted, keeping bushes and shrubs trimmed and placed in order to not allow conceled locations for perpetrators to work unobserved and many more non-electronic deterents are extremely important and a good combination of non-electronic deterents and electronic deterents is required for any security solution to be effective.  Remembering from above that security is a series of deterents, those deterents start from the outside perimeter of whatever you are protecting and then work inwards.  The more layers you create, the more protected and secure you have made your system.

All Security Systems are not created equally.  A Security System is nothing more or less than a list of electronic components until a design is applied to its use.  The design needs to be well thought out and conducive to the way you can best utilize it and how to best provide the largest number of deterents.  Most alarm companies that advertise "specials" for providing an alarm system for $99 more or less, are simply providing you the minimal possible system and they are doing so with full knowledge that what they are providing is not adaquate and/or upsell you substantially while the installation is in process. A standard in most business's and in particularly in the Alarm industry is that the most profit possible is achieved by completing any project over multiple sales.  When a complete package is requested up front and the total price is discovered to be much higher than expected, people check prices, negotiate and engage in competitive bid process's to control cost.  This is not in the alarm companies best interest.

The second obsticle to getting a good security solution is to understand the options and how they will affect your business and ability to use the system.  Do you need a multi-partition panel and your system divided into logical partitions?  Do you need to know each and every time an employee opens or locks up your business?  Do you need to provide special protection to certain areas and protect certain assets?  Do you and/or your people need emergency devices on their personal protection so that they can summon help if accosted in the parking lot?  Most important of all, what happens when an alarm goes off?  Do you have an employee respond to see what is going on and investigate?  What is your liability if something happens to that employee while they are investigating the alarm?  As you can see, there are so many considerations to think about that it is stagering.  Again, most alarm companies do not tell you about any of these issues because they kill sales.

Is a Security System the only thing you need?  Should you be considering an Access Control Solution as well?  Should you be considering a CCTV solution as well?  Do all of these solutions talk and work together?  Am I going to have to hire people just to help manage these new systems.  Will this interfere with my computer network and how will they co-exist together and will they interfere with each other?
